HOW TO MEASURE TO FIND YOUR SIZE

These are NOT custom fit gowns, they are Special Ordered -and cut to a size chart.  Take your measures and order to within 1/2" of your LARGEST measure, we advise to not order any smaller than 1/2" of your LARGEST measure.  

1. Get a measuring tape, a pencil and paper, and put on lightweight clothing. Only accurate measures insure a good fitting gown. - do not measure over sweaters or bulky jeans. 
2. Draw the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Make sure the tape is taut, and that it is flat, not twisted. Write down the measurement where the tape meets itself. It should be STRAIGHT across your back not sloping up or down. 
3. Waist Measure: VERY IMPORTANT _ READ CAREFULLY!!! Find the smallest part of the TORSO -(Usually About - 2" inches ABOVE YOUR BELLY BUTTON ) draw measure tape around smallest area, no slack in the tape at all. We have most errors with this measure - 90% measure too low on torso - that will add 2 inches to your true measure and that equals 2 sizes in the charts! 
4. Repeat around the hip (about 7"-9" below where the waist measure was). That's all! The fullest part of your buttocks. 

IMPORTANT TIPS about Sizing for Modest Gowns:

1. Even if you had your measurements taken at another store, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE re-take your measures at home to confirm what has been given to you- I cannot count the incidents of wrong measurements taken from seamstresses, stores, alterations, etc... so measure at home to confirm.  
2. If you have tried on a similar dress in a strapless style (even from the same manufacturer) and it fit perfect, that does not mean it will fit perfect in a modest style. We much prefer to have your measurement and NOT just the size you want. call us and discuss your concerns or what you have tried on. The bottom line is modest gowns fit different, and if you tried on a gown in a bridal store who does not specialize in fitting modest gowns, you may end up buying something too big , or WORSE... too small, just call and discuss your fit with us, we are experts in fitting these gowns. 
3. Again it is always better to give us your measurements rather than a size- we can explain exactly how it will fit and exactly what kind of alterations you will need when it arrives. 

It is important to note that almost ALL special order gowns will need some alterations, most common are SHOULDERS, and SIDE SEAMS, and HEMLINES,  Please expect alterations when ordering gowns. Gowns are cut to the SIZE CHART MEASURES and not to your measurements.

1. IF you are VERY tall (over 5'10) or  short (below 5'4"), it will HELP to tell A Formal Choice your height.   
2. 1. If you are over 5'11"+ you may consider adding  about 2" or so to the gown. All gowns are cut 59" hollow to Hem for someone approx 5'9" with a 2" heel. 

      How to measure Hollow to hem:  Place the tape measure ¼” below the hollow or depression of your neck on the bone in the front,  and measure to the approximate finished hem- Wear the shoes you will wear in the dress when measuring to get an accurate measure

       

   2. If you are under 5'4" or under and order a size 8 or above, the gown will REQUIRE having the shoulders altered when it arrives, Anyone shorter than 5'4" may need shoulder and hemlines altered on almost any size.  All gowns are cut 14." from the Hollow to Waist. Having the shoulders brought down is a normal bridesmaid alteration and can be done by a seamstress.  this can range from just 1/4" to 3" on the shoulders on a gown which is size 18 or above - Realize this WILL raise your neckline when the shoulders are altered. 

      How to measure Hollow to waist:    Stand straight and face forward with your arms at your sides. Place the tape measure ¼” below the hollow or depression of your neck on the bone-in the front,and measure to the waist following the shape of your body.

   3. Models on website are 5'9" in the bridal and maids sections, please take this into account on all short dresses, if you are shorter, the dress will be longer on you.

Frequently asked questions

I'm confused about my size - I don't fit right into any size?

1. Fit all gowns to your largest measurement.  If your waist is larger than the size chart (more than 1/2") move to the next size, if it is large in the bust when it arrives, it can be altered to bring the shoulder down - or take the side seams in.
2. All Bridesmaids (also Mother's) gowns are cut with 5/8 inch finished seams on BOTH sides. So you will have at least 1 inch to LET OUT . Be advised that the dresses with ORGANZA or chiffon overlay are more difficult to let out because of the nature of the fabric.
