RETURN AND REFUND POLICIES 

Click the Type of Gown you are inquiring about:

  1. An  In-Stock gown (sale or regular priced) - Listed as In stock- shown on the In stock pages- shipped the same day you order- fully refundable.
  2. A Special Ordered Bridesmaids or Bridal Gown - You have chosen the size and color to have the gown made for you.  Shipped between 5-13 weeks from your order date.
  3. An "IN-STOCK at our Manufacturer" Gowns - Our manufacturer has this gown in stock at the factory and is generally a 2 week delivery.
  4. In Store Purchases in Puyallup WA.

 

 

INTERNET ORDERS:  

ALL Special Orders and "In-Stock at Manufacturer" gowns.  

ALL Special Orders  -(bridesmaids, bridal, mothers, and specialty prom) are non-refundable or returnable. 

In stock at Manufacturer gowns are returnable with a 30% restock fee.  This includes special orders which customers do not accept but are correct as ordered.

What if my special ordered gowns does not fit when I get it?

We must depend on your accurate measurements to order the correct size for you. We must order within 1/2" of your largest measure on our size charts. For Example: If your bust is 34" and waist is 27" we must order a size 8 for you, as our gowns are cut precisely to these measures (please refer to size chart at the bottom). These gowns are non-refundable as they are made especially for you. Gowns are made to be altered.

Our gowns are all cut to size chart measures and not your body measurements, because of this it is TYPICAL for all gowns to need to be altered when they arrive. Normal alterations are lifting the shoulders, taking in the waistline, or adjusting the hemline. Alterations are needed on 99% of all gowns shipped out. Do not expect them to fit exactly when they arrive. They have 5/8" finished seams on the allowances- but may be clipped in curved areas. There is also seam allowance at the zipper line if you need extra room through the back.

It is 100% normal for a gown to need alteration

  1. If it fits big on the shoulders- The shoulder seam may even sit above your shoulders, this is a normal adjustment and a seamstress can bring the shoulders down to rest on your shoulders naturally.
  2. Every dress we sell has a built in Bra, these cups can easily be picked out with a seam ripper and will give you approximately 1/2" of room at the bust- or if they are in the wrong place for your particular body type.
  3. The waist can be adjusted in or out according to the fit you desire.
  4. Hemlines can be raised or lowered.

We suggest finding a reliable Independent Seamstress in your area to alter the gowns. Many areas also have Dry Cleaners who have alteration specialists that can do the job. Bridal stores are considerably more expensive and take much longer.  

  A Formal Choice will refund or replace the gown if:

  1. Gown is defective
  2. Gown does not measure the posted measurements on our website.

  3. Knowing the measurements of the customer and they are kept on file, A Formal Choice recommended to purchase a smaller size than the customers measurements. EXCEPTION if it is noted on order that customer agrees, and knows, alterations will be needed when gown arrives and may be too large/small because measurements are too large/small for one specific area of the body- this will then be exempt.  .

  4. A wrong size/ color / style is ordered by A Formal Choice

  5. All dresses ordered in the correct size but are refused by customer will be issued a 30% restock fee.

  6.  Section 2

    A Formal Choice will Re-Order a Special Order Gown at a reduced cost for the customer when a gown does not fit properly due to the following circumstances:

    •     Improper measurements were taken by customer

    •     Wrong size selected by customer

    •     Customer selected a size that A Formal Choice advised against  

     

    • Postage & Rush for all gowns under Section 1 will be paid for by A Formal Choice
    • Postage & Rush for all gowns under Section 2 will be paid for by Customer.
    • Gowns under section 2 cannot be altered in ANY WAY When returned to AFC.  Gowns under section 1 can be returned if alteration attempts that are pre-approved by A Formal Choice fail.

     All returned gowns will immediately be measured for accurate cutting when they are returned.  In the event it is quoted that A Formal Choice will pay for a replacement gown, and after return of gown it is determined that the gown is cut properly – customer must pay the reduced cost for a replacement gown and all postage costs associated with the re-order before  a replacement will be mailed to customer.  The fastest we can get a replacement gown to a customer is 5 weeks.

    If A formal choice ordered the correct gown according to the size charts but you are not satisfied with the gown after receipt of it, a 30% restock fee will be issued in every case.

     The reduced cost of replacement gown will include (if necessary) Quick Delivery charge and Postage

    In-Stock Formal Gowns Refund policy:

    1. All internet  in-stock ( at our store) -orders are returnable within 8 days of shipping to your address.  SORRY,  ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.  We will accept returns/exchanges ONLY if item is
      • UNWORN
      • has all original tags in tact
      • and original sales receipt/packing slip 
    2. It is purchasers' financial responsibility to ship back to A FORMAL CHOICE at  5515 81st ST E.  Puyallup, WA   98371.  Shipping charges are non-refundable.  Exchanged items will be issued a new (reduced if possible) shipping charge when re-sent - this must be pre-paid before new item will be mailed.  All returns/ exchanges will be issued a refund in same manner as paid (check/money order/charge).
    3. All Refunds must be approved before shipping back to A Formal Choice by phone or email to Naomi at 253-446-5030 - email aformalchoice@comcast.net  
    4. Dresses altered by A Formal Choice, or any other seamstress, are non-returnable (this includes cap sleeves).
    5. During Prom and Homecoming season orders of multiple dresses will carry a $20 re-stock fee per dress.  Single orders will not carry re-stock charges.  Any Dresses returned after the 8 day period will also be subject to an additional $10 fee on multiple purchases only or the return may be refused depending on our stock - this will be decision of Management of A Formal Choice.

     

    No refunds on In-Store Purchases.
